About this instrument
A travel-size arpa doppia. This 62-string model is an Italian baroque harp, and our design has drawn great interest from the baroque-harp world abroad. It takes its name from Myra, the ancient city of the Lycian civilization at present-day Demre, Antalya.
The arpa doppia is over two metres tall and notoriously difficult to transport. Miniaturizing it with almost no effect on playability could only be achieved by combining the accumulated experience of a performing harpist with real engineering — the combination behind Anatolian Harps. Where the instrument can reach 30 kg, ours weighs just 9 kg without sacrificing strength.
Easily carried on airlines, this instrument offers a range fully sufficient for the music of the period despite its size. The soundboard is available with decorative flame-maple or anigre veneer. The body is walnut as standard; maple or mahogany are available by custom order.
