Learn the harp — in Istanbul or online, anywhere
Learn the harp with us — in person in Istanbul or online from anywhere in the world. No previous musical experience is needed; online lessons are available in English and German as well as Turkish, and lesson fees are the same online and in person.
Private harp lessons
You can take private lessons without joining the course program. Complete beginners are welcome — no musical experience is required — as are returning players and students with experience on other instruments.
Lessons can be taken as often as you wish each month. The most common patterns are one lesson a week (four a month) or one lesson every two weeks (two a month). Taking lessons more often at the beginning — for example twice a week — can speed up learning; less frequent lessons also work, but then regular practice at home becomes more important.
Lesson fees are paid monthly, at the start of each month, with the month’s lessons planned in advance.
One-hour private lesson: 1,800 TL (as of December 2025). Online and in-person lessons cost the same. Private lessons with founder Zeynep Öykü are possible in very limited numbers at a different rate — ask us about availability.
Group course
Our course format blends group classes with private lessons: two group and two private lessons a month, following a program designed and supervised by Zeynep Öykü and taught by professional harp instructors trained over many years. The aim is to make harp education more affordable without compromising technique.
By renting Arna — the portable, affordable harp Anatolian Harps builds precisely for this purpose — you take a harp home without a big investment, because practice at home matters more than anything. The curriculum combines familiar, simple melodies with core harp technique, so you play music you enjoy from the very first weeks.
Classes are held on Saturdays in our Karaköy space on Bankalar Caddesi, Beyoğlu — a short walk from the ferry, Marmaray, tram and metro stops. Group classes run with 5 to 10 students and start when at least five students enroll. Courses run in six-month terms, and a six-month commitment is required to keep the group going. No musical knowledge is needed; the necessary theory is taught within the lessons.
Joining from outside Istanbul? Both group and private lessons can be attended fully online. The harp is an instrument where the hands are clearly visible from the front, which makes online learning remarkably effective — our teachers work with students across Türkiye and abroad, many of whom have never met their teacher in person and now play at a good level.
Course pricing
- Group lesson: 600 TL per lesson (1,200 TL per month for the group-only track)
- Private lesson within the course: 2,000 TL per lesson
- Group only, with 22-string harp rental included: 3,200 TL per month
- Group + private, with harp rental included: 7,200 TL per month

Course fees are set in Turkish lira. If you already have a suitable harp, or purchase one, only the lesson fee applies. Beware of unplayable “decorative” instruments sold online — ask our instructors before buying.
